    About:

    Tierra Mia sources coffee from the same farms as Intelligentsia, then roasts the beans on-site at its Huntington Park location.  The menu has pourovers and espressos, but the standouts are the third-wave takes on drinks like the cubano and horchata latte.

    The great Chicago roaster landed in Los Angeles in 2007, ushering in the city’s slow coffee renaissance.  Each location is distinct: Silver Lake is a true coffee bar, with patio seating and hipster attitude; Venice throws casual beachside laze in an industrial steampunk setting; and Pasadena is a slightly more refined cafe that serves coffee alongside full menus of food and beer.

    The primary focus here is on the Japanese, Korean, and Chinese-inspired pastries, but don’t let that draw your attention away from the coffee program.  It’s a solid menu of classics, plus other coffee drinks you’ll be hard pressed to find elsewhere in LA.  The Vietnamese coffee, for example, is easily the best you’ll find without having to trek out to the San Gabriel Valley.
